Grid current, why does it occur? — 6 Comments

    • A large resistor could, even if the grid currents are very small, cause a voltage drop that can be large enough to alter the bias of the valve (grid voltagee). This could make the grid voltage more positive, and causes the bias to shift, and the anode current would increase. This in turn could destabilize the bias point. This could lead to a shorter life span of the valve. A worst case scenario would be if the anode current increases so much that we will have a thermal runaway.
